Yamaha DVD not reading CDR media

I have a freecom CD-RW drive that I am using to create Audio CD's. I have tried 3 different manufacturers CDR media (TDK, KODAK being recommended) but none will work in my Yamaha S795 DVD player

Probably your DVD player cannot read CDR media
