HTC Introduces The J Butterfly, The First 5-inch 1080p Smartphone
HTC has announced the world's 5-inch full 1080p smartphone in Japan, the new J Butterfly.
The device features a full 1080p HD Super LCD 3 screen with a resolution of 440 ppi - to put that in perspective, the iPhone 5's Retina Display packs in 325ppi. It is powered by the quad-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon chip and 2GB of RAM.
In addition an ImageSense-enhanced 8-megapixel rear camera along with Beats Audio rounds out the package.
The device runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean enhanced by HTC's Sense 4+.
The HTC J Butterfly is equipped for global use -- through NFC, LTE, and CDMA/GSM/UMTS/GPRS radios. In addition, the handset has a microSDHC expansion, Bluetooth 4.0, and 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi.
HTC will launch the HTC J Butterfly with Japanese mobile telecom carrier KDDI in early December 2012.
