Samsung Establishes Own U.S. Patent Firm

Samsung Display last month set up established a company specializing in trading and developing patents in the United States.

The display-making affiliate of Samsung Group said it invested $25 million to launch Intellectual Keystone Technology (IKT) in Washington D.C. in a move to beef up its patent-related business, the Korea Times reported today. Samsung owns 100 percent of IKT.

With the moe, Samsung aims at strengthening its patent-related business and protect its intellectual property.

IKT bought LCD- and OLED-related patents previously owned by Japan?s Seiko Epson on April 30.
