ZTE announced today that sales of the ZTE Open Firefox OS phone will start soon on US and UK eBay.
Recently launched with Telefonica in Spain, Venezuela and Colombia, the ZTE Open will now be available for the first time in Orange priced at $79.99 (£59.99) and will be unlocked to allow use on all mobile networks.
The Open, announced in February at Mobile World Congress, has a 3.5-inch screen and is powered by a 1GHz processor from Qualcomm. The smartphone also has a 3.2-megapixel camera and support for Wi-Fi and A-GPS. The device has 512MB of integrated storage and 256MB of RAM.
Targeted at the first time smartphone user, Firefox OS smartphones are the first devices powered completely by Web technologies. Searching for a favorite music artist results in apps to buy songs and listen instantly, purchase concert tickets and more. Users can discover apps to use once or download to keep.
Firefox OS also includes the essential calls, messaging, email, camera, as well as features such as built-in social integration with Facebook and Twitter, location-based services like Nokia HERE maps which include local transit and traffic information, Firefox Web browser, the Firefox Marketplace and more.
