Message Text: Acer on Tuesday announced that its new Iconia W510 tablets will be available at prices starting at $499.

Acer's tablet, which debuted at Computex last June, features a 10.1-inch Gorilla Glass screen, weighs 598 grams and offers up to nine hours of battery life. The $499 model will come with 32GB of solid-state drive storage, and the $599 model will come with a 64GB SSD.

The Iconia W510 will become available on Nov. 9. The W510 models will have 2GB RAM, a 2-megapixel front camera and an 8-megapixel back camera. The Acer tablet will come with a dual-core Atom Z2760 processor and will also have a micro-HDMI port, micro-SD cards and micro-USB slots.

At $499, the tablet is in the same price range as Apple's iPad, which also starts at $499.

The most unique part of the W510 tablet is the tri-mode, allowing users to touch, type and view. Aside from the conventional tablet mode, it can be used in productivity mode. A detachable keyboard dock can be connected to the tablet for optimal typing as well as extending the battery life up to 18 hours. Rotating the tablet 295 degrees allows it to be used in presentation mode, watching a video, browsing a webpage or viewing a PowerPoint presentation.

The 64GB Iconia W510 will be priced at $699 with a keyboard dock, and $799 with a dock and a two-year warranty.
