Message Text: A court in California has allowed Samsung to include Apple's iPhone 5 among the products alleged to have infringed its patents, while also allowing Apple to amend its infringement contentions to include the Jelly Bean operating system and newer products from Samsung such as the Galaxy Note 10.1 and the U.S. version of the Galaxy S III.

This is the second patent infringement lawsuit pending in the U.S. District Court in San Jose by Apple against Samsung. An earlier lawsuit by Apple resulted in a $1.05 billion jury verdict against Samsung last August.

The second lawsuit (Apple Inc v. Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., et al., U.S. District Court, Northern District of California, 12-cv-00630.) was filed by Apple in California last February, alleging that Samsung smartphone and tablet products including the Galaxy Nexus infringed eight of its patents.

Samsung filed a cross-complaint alleging that Apple's iPhone and iPad infringed eight of its patents.

U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh issued a preliminary injunction against pretrial sales of the Nexus in June. However, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit overturned the sales ban on October 11.
