Message Text: The latest version of Firefox, released Tuesday, has a new feature that integrates Facebook into the browser.

The feature is called Facebook Messenger for Firefox, and brings Facebook's notifications and instant messaging into the browser.

Four Facebook icons placed at the top right of the browser include the buttons for friend requests, message alerts and notifications. The icons light up and show red alerts whenever you receive new requests, messages or notifications.

Below the icons is a chat sidebar that shows your friends' activity as it happens. Clicking on any of them, opens a chat window.

With the latest Firefox release, Mozilla also patched 29 security vulnerabilities.

Firefox 17 also debuts a new security feature that automatically blocks outdated versions of the most popular Web browser plug-ins -- Adobe's Flash Player and Reader, Microsoft's Silverlight, and Oracle's Java -- from executing content.

Mozilla also subtracted pulled the plug on support for OS X Leopard, Apple's 2007 operating system.

To test the features out, upgrade to the latest Firefox and then visit the Facebook Messenger for Firefox page and click "Turn On."
