Message Text: Smartphone chip designer Qualcomm is seeking for software engineers that would be responsible for the design of ARM server SoCs.

According to ads published by the company, applicants for the new positions will work on "architecture/design and system prototypes of Qualcomm's new ARMv8-based server SOC ASICs for the power optimized server market."

Their primary responsibilities will include specification, development, porting, integration and shakeout of server platform management software and firmware on prototypes utilizing Qualcomm's new SOC, the ad reads.

The ARMv8 is a reference to ARM's next-generation 64-bit capable instruction set architecture.

AMD, Applied Micro, Cavium, Calxeda, Marvell, Nvidia and Samsung are also working on ARM server SoCs.

The companies are expected to start rolling out 64-bit ARM server SoCs ARM in 2014.
