Message Text: Sharp has developed a LED device for lighting apparatuses that has the industry's highest luminous flux (14,000lm), the company claims.

Besides its high luminous flux, the "GW7GAL50SGC" has a wattage of about 100W and cen be used in street lamps and lighting apparatuses installed on ceilings.

Sharp says it has improved heat dissipation performance of the new LED by using a high heat conductivity material for the substrate of the LED device. At the same time, the company increased the LED's luminous efficiency to 143lm/W compared to the company's previous model and its life time is 40,000 hours. A connector was also employed for connection to electric wiring, eliminating the need for soldering.

The GW7GAL50SGC measures 86.6 (W) x 75.0 (D) x 3.9mm (H) and will enter volume production in May. Sample price is ¥9,000 (approx. $97.2).
