Message Text: Facebook has made available a new account recovery feature, which lets people locked out of their profiles get back in with the help of friends.

In 2011, Facebook began testing Trusted Friends, which lets your friends help you if you?re having trouble logging into your account. Recently, the company redesigned and improved Trusted Friends, and it has a new name: Trusted Contacts.

You can now choose and manage your trusted contacts anytime from your Security Settings, instead of only when you're having trouble accessing your account. Facebook is also giving your trusted contacts more information throughout the process so it's easier for them to help you.

Through the Security Settings, you can select three to five friends to be your trusted contacts - like friends you'd give a spare key to your house.

After you set your trusted contacts, we?ll notify them so that they can be ready to help you if you ever need it.

Once you've set up your trusted contacts, if you ever have trouble logging in, you'll have your trusted contacts as an option to help. You just need to call your trusted contacts and let them know you need their help to regain access to your account. Each of them can get a security code for you with instructions on how to help you. Once you get three security codes from your trusted contacts, you can enter them into Facebook to recover your account.
