Message Text: Today NVIDIA added another GPU to the 700-series lineup: the GeForce GTX 760 - a logical "sweet spot" for gamers that want a Kepler graphics card in the sub-$300 price range.

With a 256 bit memory interface and 6.0 Gbps memory bandwidth the GTX 760 is targeted at high performance even with high resolution displays. "Powered by an NVIDIA Kepler architecture-based GPU with a 2.3 gigaflops of processing horsepower, the GeForce GTX 760 is already more powerful than the next-generation game consoles expected by the end of the year," according to Nvidia.

The GTX 760 features a GK104 GPU with 6 SMXes attached to a full 32 ROP, 256-bit memory bus. This configuration could have less shading and texturing throughput than the retiring GTX 660 Ti, but more ROP throughput and memory bandwidth than that same part.

The GTX 760 has a base clockspeed of 980MHz, which is 65MHz higher than both the GTX 670 and GTX 660 Ti. The result is a product whose performance bounces between the GTX 660 Ti and GTX 670 depending on the workload. Memory clocks on the other hand are unchanged at 6GHz, but thanks to its full 256-bit memory bus GTX 760 will have 33% more memory bandwidth than GTX 660 Ti.

GTX 760?s TDP will stand at 170W, the same TDP as the GTX 670.

The GeForce GTX 760 includes NVIDIA GPU Boost 2.0 technology, which automatically increases the GPU's clock speed for enhanced performance, while adding temperature target and fan controls, as well as extra over-voltage headroom and optimizations for water-cooling solutions.

The GeForce GTX 760 also supports NVIDIA's latest array of gaming technologies, including the NVIDIA PhysX physics engine and NVIDIA TXAA anti-aliasing. Plus, it includes the new NVIDIA GeForce Experience software.

According to Nvidia, the GeForce GTX 760 is three-times faster than the GeForce GTX 275 GPU and twice as fast as the GeForce GTX 560 GPU. According to indepentent tests, the GTX 760 is a straightforward successor to the GTX 560 Ti and GTX 460 1GB. The GTX 760 is also improving on the GTX 560 Ti by about 60%.

The card's $249 price tag cuts right down the middle of AMD?s current product lineup, putting GTX 760 between the Radeon HD 7870 and 7950.
