Message Text: Samsung has a 64-bit Exynos processor ready for mass production, a chip thta will likely power the compay's next flagship smartphone.

The news was confirmed by the company during the conference call for its most recent quarterly results.

Samsung seems to be following quickly in the footsteps of Apple, which became the first manufacturer to ship such a device with its new iPhone 5s.

Previously, the company's CEO JK Shin had unveiled Samsung's plans to have 64-bit processing functionality in the future.

Still, most apps are unlikely to see much immediate benefit from the shift from 32-bit tech and that it could introduce compatibility problems in the future.

The 64-bit processor will need devices with more physical memory - especially more than the 1~2GB of RAM found in most flagship smartphones today. However, that would also make the devices more expensive and power-hungry.
