Motorola at the Mobile World Congress announced it is the latest smartphone maker to release a smartwatch this summer under the Moto X brand.
Motorola's Senior VP, Rick Osterloh promised that the device would be "more a piece of jewllery rather than ugly tech".
Tech companies including Samsung, LG, Huawei and Sony are already trying to convince guests of the benefits of wearing a smartwatch as well as carrying a smartphone.
Motorola also confirmed that its MotoMaker service, a web site where customers can customize their handsets, will be launching in Europe later this year. Starting with the UK and Germany this March, when consumers order a Moto X or Moto G handset online, they will also be able to choose the color and material of the back plate and also select protective cases.
Motorola also confirmed that a new version of the Moto X handset is coming this summer.
