Message Text: Nintendo's strategy includes the release of two new smartphone games in the following months, which will be free to download, the company’s partner said on Wednesday.

The games will be released for Android and iOS, according to a report from The Wall Street Journal. The gaming company announced last month that its next two mobile titles would be based on franchises Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem. Nintendo's first mobile game, social media app Miimoto, was launched for free in March year, and has been downloaded by more than 10 million users since.

According to the WSJ, pricing on the upcoming games was revealed by Nintendo's mobile partner DeNA, which worked with the company on Miimoto.

DeNA's chief executive Isao Moriyasu said that the new titles were more "pure-game apps" than Miimoto, which was focused more on social interactions than actual gaming. The new games are expected to be released later this year in the fall, and Nintendo has said it will create four more mobile titles by the end of 2017.

New price for Nintendo 2DS System

In related news, starting from May 20, Nintendo is lowering the price of its kid-friendly portable Nintendo 2DS system to a suggested retail price of $79.99, a $20 saving from the previous suggested retail price of $99.99. Some systems even come pre-installed with the popular Mario Kart 7 racing game.

Kids can soon check out the new game in the Kirby series, Kirby: Planet Robobot, which launches June 10, as well as two new kid-friendly games coming later this year: Style Savvy: Fashion Forward and Disney Magical World 2.
