A new edition of Windows 10 will soon be released. Known currently as 'Windows 10 Cloud' the OS will reportedly be designed to compete with the Chrome OS rather running from the the cloud.

ZDNet's Mary Jo Foley reports that Windows 10 Cloud has appeared in an unannounced new version of Windows 10 Insider test builds. But don't expect to see a version of Windows 10 streamed from Azure. it will be possibly a simplifed version of Windows 10 that will be able to run only Unified Windows Platform (UWP) apps installed from the Windows Store.

Windows 10 Cloud could help Microsoft in its ongoing campaign to attempt to thwart Chromebooks with a simpler, safer, cheaper version of Windows 10.

It's not clear when Microsoft plans to deliver this new Windows 10 Cloud version, but early references in the Creators Update to Windows 10 (due in April) suggest it could arrive soon.

Microsoft declined to share more about Windows 10 Cloud.
