Uber Technologies Inc. is suspending its self-driving car program after one of its autonomous vehicles was involved in a crash in Tempe, Arizona.

In a photo posted on Twitter, one of Uber's Volvo self-driving SUVs is pictured on its side next to another car with dents and smashed windows. An Uber spokeswoman said that the ride-hailing company is suspending its autonomous tests in Arizona until it completes its investigation and pausing its Pittsburgh operations. The accident caused no serious injuries, Uber added.

Two 'safety' drivers were in the front seats of the Uber car, which was in self-driving mode at the time of the crash,

The accident is not the first time a self-driving car has been involved in a collision. A driver of a Tesla Motors Model S car operating in autopilot mode was killed in a collision with a truck in Williston, Florida in 2016. A self-driving vehicle operated by Alphabet's Google was involved in a crash last year in Mountain View, California, striking a bus while attempting to navigate around an obstacle.
