Apple onm Friday said a "limited number" of 13-inch MacBook Pro laptops (non Touch Bar) units, sold between October 2016 and October 2017 have a potentially faulty component that causes the battery to expand.

The company said it will replace batteries in affected units at no charge. The company posted a page on its website where customers can check if their laptop is affected and begin the battery exchange process.

The iPhone maker previously came under scrutiny after it confirmed in December that software to deal with aging batteries in iPhone 6, iPhone 6s and iPhone SE models could slow down performance. The company later apologized and lowered the price of battery replacements for affected models to $29 from $79.
