Message Text: Onkyo and Pioneer has unveiled the UDP-LX800, an Ultra HD Blu-ray universal player set for release in Japan in mid-November for 365,000 yen (US $ 3252.5).

The new flagship device can play back Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray 2D and 3D, DVD, DVD-Audio, SACD and CD. Specifically, the player is compatible with
UHD BD, BD, BD-R / RE, BD-R / RE DL, DVD video, DVD audio, DVD ± R / RW, DVD ± R DL, DVD + R / + RW, AVCHD disc, DSD disc, music CD, SACD, CD-R / RW (CD-DA). Content from USB flash memory dongles can also be played.

The player uses a BD drive featuring high stability and low noise operation, as a result of Pioneer'e expertise in the design of optical disc drives.

In terms of structure, the UDP-LX800 inherited elements from the LX88 model, featuring an an ultra-rigid chassis to eliminate vibrations (14.5kg). It also prevents unwanted interference, thanks to a three-chamber construction that houses the power supply section, the digital, and analogue circuits in separated chambers.

Compared with the previous UDP-LX500 model released in late September, the new UDP-LX800 uses a dual DAC Sabre ES9026PRO. The new player also supports Dolby Vision (Dolby Vision) HDR. Pioneer says that support for HDR10 + is also possible through a firmware update.

The equipment includes two HDMI outputs (one dedicated to audio). There is also a digital optical output, an analogue audio output (Balance/Unbalance)
Ethernet and RS-232C ports.

The video section includes the upscaling all the sources up to a resolution of Ultra HD and the conversion from HDR to SDR (Standard Dynamic Range). LX800 is also equipped with a built in media player capable of playing files from local network and from USB.
