DTS-HD Master Audio Makes European Market Debut at IFA 2007

With the opening of IFA 2007 in Berlin later this month, DTS will demonstrate to the European Consumer Electronics (CE) community its DTS-HD Master Audio codec that provides a gateway to 7.1-channel sound for audio component manufacturers, content developers and consumers.

Taking place August 31st through September 5th in Berlin, the show will also serve as a platform for leading CE brands including Sony, Samsung, Onkyo, Denon, Pioneer, Toshiba and Yamaha to launch DTS-HD Master Audio-enabled home theater components.

"This is the first wave of DTS-HD-featured products, and we expect to see the product offerings quickly expand in the coming months," commented Brian Towne, Senior Vice President & General Manager, Consumer Division at DTS.

As films, games and music become more interactive and immersive, 7.1-channel sound becomes even more essential to the entertainment experience. Underscoring this point are DTS' HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc demonstration discs featuring DTS-HD Master Audio movie and music clips produced in 1080p high definition video with audio that is bit-for-bit identical to the master soundtrack. The discs, which will be showcased by A/V manufacturers at IFA, will include 7.1-channel tracks from famed musicians BT and Omar Hakim, as well as 5.1-channel tracks from Peter Gabriel and Pat Metheny, and clips from the films Ice Age: The Meltdown and Fantastic Four.

DTS will have a presence at the IFA stands of HD DVD (Hall 21.A, Stand #104) and Blu-ray Disc (Hall 6.2, Stand #104 + 107), and will be holding demonstrations of DTS-HD Master Audio.
