Toshiba excites CEs with the release of the ultra-thin
Excite X10 Tablet, the Qosmio F755 3D glasses-free 3D
laptop and a redesigned LED TV lineup.
World's Thinnest 10-Inch Tablet
Toshiba plans to introduce the Excite X10 tablet, possibly the world's thinnest 10-inch tablet, to the U.S. market. Measuring in at just 0.3 inches (7.7mm)
thin and weighing just 1.18 pounds (535g), the tablet will be available in the U.S. starting in the first quarter of 2012.
The Excite X10 features a high-resolution 10.1-inch
diagonal AutoBrite display, a high-quality magnesium
alloy surface and scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla
Glass display with an anti-smudge coating.
The tablet comes with all essential interfaces and
ports onboard, including micro-USB and HDMI ports, a
micro-SD slot to share content and files with other
devices, plus Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. Front
and back HD cameras provide photo capture, plus 1080p
video recording and conferencing. Stereo speakers
enhanced with exclusive sound enhancements by Toshiba
and SRS Labs.
Powered by the Texas Instruments OMAP 4430 mobile
processor, the Excite X10 delivers smart multicore
processing power without draining battery life. The
multicore design features two ARM Cortex A9 cores plus
dual-channel memory.
The tablet is also powered by the latest Android
platform technology. Also included is a full suite of
familiar Google Mobile Service applications, including
the Android Market, YouTube, Gmail, Google Maps,
Music, Videos, plus select third-party applications
including Netflix.

The Excite X10 tablet will be available in mid-Q1 2012
for a starting price of $529.99 MSRP5 for the 16GB
model and $599.99 MSRP for the 32GB model.
Toshiba also showacased tablet prototypes equipped with OLED displays, in sizes of 7.7 inches (21:9), 5.1 inches and 13.3 inches. Toshiba's goal is to offer the industry's first 8.8 mm thick OLED tablets in 2012.
Glasses-Free 3D Laptop
Toshiba also today announced Optimized for NVIDIA
GeForce 3D support for the Qosmio F755 3D, enabling
users to experience glasses-free 3D gaming. The update
is currently available for download via Toshiba?s
Service Station utility.
To achieve a 3D viewpoint without the aid of special
glasses, the Qosmio F755 3D laptop uses
auto-stereoscopic display technology. Equipped with a
15.6-inch diagonal 1080p Full HD TruBrite display with
Active Lens technology, the double parallax image
display is able to project two sets of images at the
same time, splitting them between the left and right
eyes to create the 3D effect. Toshiba's Face Tracking
technology then taps into the laptop?s built-in webcam
to further perfect the projection of the image by
reacting to the motion and position of the viewer.
In addition to its 3D capabilities, the Qosmio F755 3D
is powered by the visibly smart Intel Core i5 or Core
i7 processor, NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M graphics
processor with 1GB of GDDR3 graphics memory, as well
as up to 8GB RAM5 and a 750GB hard drive. Built-in
harman/kardon speakers, a suite of sound enhancement
technologies from Dolby and Waves Audio deliver
booming cinematic sound to movies, music and games.
An integrated Blu-ray Disc rewriteable drive (on
select models) offers record and play capabilities,
while an HDMI 1.4 port supports output of video (up to
1080p) to a 3D-ready TV or display.
Redesigned LED TV Lineup
Toshiba's revamped HDTV line-up for 2012 feature key
enhancements including a stylish new Aero Family
Design, improved picture quality, enhanced sound
quality and new 50-inch class size models.
New Features:
Dynamic Picture Mode
Toshiba TVs include multiple picture mode options
including Standard, Movie, PC, Native Mode and Expert
Mode. Toshiba's 2012 line adds a new Dynamic Mode.
This mode maximizes picture contrast, color and
sharpness.
Audyssey Sound Enhancement Technology
Toshiba has incorporated Audyssey sound enhancement
technology into all of its 2012 TV models. Features
such as Dynamic EQ provide more natural sound and
Audyssey BassXT delivers deeper bass performance.
Toshiba's LED TV models incorporate the Premium Suite,
which incorporates Dynamic Volume technology,
eliminating sudden volume changes from commercials and
channel changes.
Aero Family Design
Virtually all 2012 Toshiba LED TVs now feature the new
Aero Family Design, hallmarked by a silver wing design
along the bottom of the display as well as and thin
bezel treatment.
Edge LED
L5200 Series: Toshiba's L5200 Series LED TV is
available in 40-, 46- and new 50-inch class screen
sizes and features the latest Aero Family Design with
an ultra-thin bezel. The series feature Full HD 1080p
resolution displays and include ClearFrame 120Hz
technology. The L5200 Series comes equipped with the
new Dynamic Picture Mode as the Audyssey premium sound
enhancement suite. The TVs also include a host of
connectivity options with three HDMI ports, an HD PC
Input and a USB Media port. The L5200 Series will be
available in March.
L4200 Series: Toshiba's L4200 Series LED TV is
available in the 19-, 24- and 32-inch class screen
sizes. This Series includes the new Dynamic Picture
Mode and Audyssey sound enhancement suite as well as
flexible connectivity with two HDMI ports, an HD PC
Input and a USB Media port. The L4200 features
Toshiba's new Aero Family Design and ultra-thin bezel.
The 19- and 32-inch class size models feature 720p HD
resolution, while the 24-inch class screen size
features a 1080p full HD display. The L4200 Series
will be available in March.
V4210 Series: Toshiba?s V4210 1080p Full HD LED/DVD
Combo TV will be available in the 24-inch class screen
size and combines the convenience of a built-in DVD
player with the latest picture and sound technologies.
This TV is also equipped with the new Dynamic Picture
Mode and Audyssey sound enhancement suite. Additional
connectivity includes two HDMI ports and a USB Media
port. The HD PC Input allows the TV to double as a
high quality PC monitor. The V4210 will be available
in March.
Direct LED
L2200 Series: Toshiba's L2200 will be available in the
new 50-inch class screen size with 1080p Full HD
resolution and features new Direct LED technology.
This TV includes the new Dynamic Picture Mode and
Audyssey premium sound enhancement suite as well as
two HDMI ports, an HD PC Input and a USB Media port.
The L2200 features the new Aero Family Design and will
be available in April.
CCFL
HT2 - The Toshiba HT2 is available in the super large
65-inch class screen size. It is equipped with 1080p
Full HD resolution and ClearFrame 120Hz technology.
Connectivity includes three HDMI ports, an HD PC Input
and a USB Media port. The HT2 is available now.
E220 - Toshiba's E220 will be available in the 40-inch
class screen size and offers 1080p Full HD resolution,
Dynamic Picture Mode and Audyssey sound enhancement
suite. Connectivity includes two HDMI ports, HD PC
Input and USB Media port. The E220 will be available
in January.
C120 - Toshiba's C120 will be available in the
32-inch screen size. The TV features 720p HD
resolution, Dynamic Picture Mode and Audyssey sound
enhancement suite. Connectivity includes two HDMI
ports, an HD PC Input and a USB Media port. The C120
will be available in January.
3D Smart TV Series For 2012
Toshiba's 3D Smart TV for 2012 feature a suite of
new capabilities including ePortal, MediaGuide, Open
Browser, SearchAll, MediaShare, Send & Play, eManual,
Tablet Remote App Capability (TRAC), built-in Wi-Fi
and the dual core CQ EnginesePortal with MediaGuide,
SearchAll, Open Browser and eManual.
Toshiba's new ePortal makes it easy to find and
control all elements of the system. The built-in
MediaGuide, featuring Rovi data, provides detailed
program metadata. SearchAll allows consumers to enter
any keyword and automatically search TV channels,
streaming video and the home network for related
content. Open Browser gives users access virtually any
website and then create bookmarks for favorites. And,
eManual puts the owner's manual on screen for quick
access to possible questions.
MediaShare, TRAC Tablet Remote App Capability and Send
& Play
MediaShare is a simple graphic DLNA interface that
allows the Smart TV to easily access and stream
videos, music and photos from other home network
devices. TRAC ensures that Toshiba Smart TVs are fully
compatible with Android-based devices. Used in
conjunction with a free Toshiba Remote app that will
be available in the Android Market, TRAC takes
advantage of the full IR code library and IR blaster
built into the TV, to provide unique total A/V system
control. At the push of a button, the Send&Play app
makes it simple to wirelessly share web-based content
from a Toshiba Tablet on to Toshiba's Smart TVs via
the web browser on the TV.
Dual Core CQ Engine and Built-in Wi-Fi
Both Toshiba 3D Smart TV Series leberage the power of
the dual core CQ (Cinema Quality) Engine. This 1GHz
dual core ARM processor creates enhanced brightness,
sharpness, color saturation and sharpness.
Passive 3D and TriVector 2D to 3D Conversion
Toshiba utilizes Passive 3D Technology to create a 3D
experience. With Passive 3D, consumers can enjoy hours
of 3D without concerns about battery operated glasses
that need recharging. The TVs come with four pairs of
passive 3D glasses. With TriVector 2D to 3D
Conversion, consumers can watch movies and TV in 3D,
and even play standard video games in 3D, all the
time.
L7200 Series: Toshiba's premium L7200 Cinema Series
LED Smart 3D TV featrues Full HD 1080p resolution
panels, while ClearScan 240Hz technology minimizes
blurring in fast motion video and Local Dimming
provides deep contrast.
In addition, L7200 Cinema Series includes two-way
ported speakers enhanced by the Audyssey Premium
Suite. The TVs also feature Toshiba's Aero bezel-less
design, bringing the picture right to the edge of the
glass.
Connectivity options include 4 HDMI ports, two USB
video ports and an HD PC input. The Smart TV also
comes with a full-size wireless keyboard for web
navigation. The L7200 Cinema Series will be available
in 47- and 55-inch class screen sizes.
L6200 Series: This series combines Toshiba's Aero bezel-less design, passive 3D, and Smart TV capabilities . The Smart 3D TVs feature 1080p Full HD
panels with ClearScan 120Hz technology and the
Audyssey premium sound enhancement suite. The L6200
Series will be available in 42-, 47- and 55-inch class
screen sizes.
The Toshiba L7200 Cinema Series and L6200 3D Smart TVs
will be available in March 2012.
55-inch 4K glasses-free 3D TV Coming to U.S.
Toshiba also showcases a new a glasses-free 3D TV with a Quad Full HD panel at CES 2012, available to buyers in the U.S. in the first quarter of 2012 for about $10,000.
Compared to the company's verion of the new TV currently available in Japan (the 55X3) the U.S. version features a thinner design. The new TV offers enhanced 2D with its Quad Full HD screen that displays images at four times Full HD resolution (3,840x2,160-pixel). The 3D mode is limited to a resolution of 1,280x720 pixels.
The glasses-free 3D application is powered by CEVO-ENGINE Duo, Toshiba's multi-processor platform.
