Deutsche Telekom is reportedly in talks to buy the U.S. fifth largest carrier, MetroPCS.
Bloomberg reported today that Deutsche Telekom, the parent company of T-Mobile, is considering a stock-swap transaction that would give the German company control over a T-Mobile and MetroPCs merged company. The report cited two unnamed people familiar with the talks.
Deutsche Telekom last year failed to complete the sale of T-Mobile USA to AT&T due to regulatory resistance.
Sprint had also reportedly discussed buying T-Mobile USA last year, after they have previously abandoned plans to buy MetroPCS.
Deutsche Telekom and MetroPCS representatives declined to comment.
