Samsung Galaxy S5 Coming In April

Samsung plans to release the latest model of its Galaxy S smartphone as soon as April, according to Samsung mobile chief.

In an interview with Bloomberg, Samsung's Lee Young Hee revealed the company will launch the Galaxy S5 in three months, and will also release a new version of its Galaxy Gear smartwatch a the same period.

"We will go back to the basics," Lee told Bloomberg, commenting on the changes of the new handset. "Mostly, it's about the display and the feel of the cover."

Lee also confirmed previous reports that the Samsung was considering the inclusion of an eye scanner in its smartphones. Also, the updated Galaxy Gear smartwatch will include additional functions and improvements to the "bulky design."

The Galaxy S5 is also expected to be powered by an Exynos 64-bit processor.

In addition, Samsung's next Galaxy Note handset may use a three-sided display so messages can be read from an angle. The latest model will be released in the second half of this year and be aimed at the high-end segment.

"We are targeting consumers who want more professional use and tend to be willing to pay more for handsets," Samsung's Lee said.

The Korean company announced at CES its 12.2-inch versions of the Galaxy NotePRO, which uses a stylus, and the TabPRO, which doesn't.

More information on the Galaxy S5 and the Galaxy Note are expected during next month's Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
