FOVE 0 Begins Shipping, New Eye Tracking Content Is coming Alive

The first batch of the Fove 0 VR headsets have started shipping, along with two cool applications Fove's developers have been working on.

After this first limited-time pre order period is over, Fove will concentrate exclusively on white-colored headsets.

Fove reads subtle eye movements for more precise control in VR. By keeping track of the user's gaze, it is possible to focus on the object you are looking at with high precision, and it is possible to communicate with the virtual world and character with natural feeling. Built-in organic EL display of 2,560 x 1,440 dots, the viewing angle is 90 to 100 degrees. In addition to the eye tracking sensor, the headset also carries orientation tracking and position tracking sensor.

A partnership with an Oscar-winning creative studio Framestore and Time Inc.'s LIFE VR platform has spawned a VR meditation experience you can try out with FOVE 0. The software is called LUMEN and it allows you to grow a forest with the power of eye tracking. You will be placed in a dreamlike world where simply by gazing around you can see trees growing, flowers blossoming and colors changing in the spot you are looking at:

In addition, CognitiveVR has showcased their application for FOVE recently. Their platform allows geospatial tracking, aggregation and analysis of users' behavior in VR experiences. They built an application where the user is placed in a virtual store environment. The user moves around in the store and the application analyzes and gives statistics on what the user has been looking at and in what order.

CognitiveVR's is an example on how eye tracking could be utilized in retail or real estate. This is what the application looks like:
