The OnePlus 5 Sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 and 8GB RAM

The latest premium flagship smartphone from OnePlus, the OnePlus 5, is based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform, complemented by up to 8GB of RAM.

The new handset is just 7.25mm thick, and the overall layout of the phone is all but identical to the OnePlus 3 and 3T. The phone is available in Midnight Black and Slate Gray.

The OnePlus 5 is designed to support up to 600Mbps download speeds, as well as "All Mode", making it possible to use your smartphone in nearly every country in the world. Users also enjoy Wi-Fi connectivity using Qualcomm Technologies' integrated 802.11ac 2x2 MU-MIMO technology, which offers twice as much throughput as 1x1 Wi-Fi and improved coverage, especially in homes and offices with brick and concrete walls. Snapdragon 835 also supports BT5, which offers doubled peak speeds compared to Bluetooth 4.2 and extended coverage. Additionally, the OnePlus 5 features advanced RF front end features such as Qualcomm TruSignal adaptive antenna tuning with carrier aggregation designed for consistent data speeds and high call reliability, as well as envelope tracking technology for superior power efficiency and long battery life.

The OnePlus 5 also takes advantage of the integrated Qualcomm Spectra 180 ISP's dual 14-bit image signal processing working in conjunction with the integrated Qualcomm Hexagon DSP that uses HVX technology to accelerate many of the smartphone's imaging experiences. For instance, the OnePlus 5 features the first high-resolution dual-camera system consisting of a 16MP camera sensor with a wide-angle lens plus a second 20MP camera sensors that has a telephoto lens. The two camera sensors work together to create a focal separation between faces and backgrounds, while custom software algorithms produce pictures with professional looking bokeh effects. Additionally, "Smart Capture" combines optical zoom with image stabilization and multi-frame image enhancement technologies to deliver a smooth zoom experience between the OnePlus 5's two cameras for recording high quality videos from a wide range of distances, with greater clarity. The OnePlus 5 also comes with a large f/1.7 aperture and other advanced camera sensor technologies that when combined with the new hybrid auto-focus framework in Snapdragon 835, is designed to support faster snapshots with high auto-focus performance in extreme lowlight scenarios.

Battery life has been improved by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 as well as the LPDDR4X memory.

As for pricing, the Midnight Black (8GB+128GB) model costs $539 and the Slate Gray (6GB+64GB) model costs $479. Early drop sales are available on oneplus.net now, and the device is on open sale from June 27.
