I have a Yamaha 2100 and I can't get it to rip audio CDs at anywhere near 40X advertised. More like 4x to 6x, using FastAudioRip downloaded from Yamaha web site. I tried switching channels, master to slave, etc.
I changed cables, thinking maybe the cable was damaged. I first used another ordinary IDE cable. No improvement. Finally I tried a 80 wire high capacity IDE cable, the kind required by UDMA66 hard drives. Now I'm ripping at average of 28x.
