What is the "power calibration error"?
I tried to burn a cd and got this error: "power calibration error"

Before any write operation, a recorder must first do a 15 step burn test to determine the "Optimum Power" to write to the Media with. A portion of the Media is reserved just for this and will support up to 99_ test writes before it will become full. And now, most recorders also come with Running Optimum Power Calibration, so it now will do these tests in the middle of the write to ensure a good burn throughout the CD, not just at the begining. This process is controlled by the recorders firmware, not by the mastering software such as Nero or EasyCD Creator. Though the process is initiated by them. :-) So, when you run into a Power Calibration Error, or Power Calibration Area Full Error message, you either have poor or defective media. Or the recorder is in need of a firmware upgrade or repair/service
