Plex 12x jumper hack impairs DAE?

I did the jumper hack on my TDk VeloCD 12/10/32 (basically the same unit as the Plex 12x) and found out that my max DAE speed was about 15x, but without the jumper hack, it goes pretty high, just a little past 28x

Maybe the forced UDMA 2 mode helps the drive jump off DAE.
