Backup current firmware

If I try to flash my CDR-W on my own something may go wrong which will break my recorder. In that case, can I save my current firmware to my hard disk or to a floppy disk and then use it if the Flash is not successful to get my recorder working again?

Most OEM's dont include the ability to save the current firmware to a file before flashing like most motherboard manufacturers. It would depend on who made your drive though. Check on their web page for the flash tool and see if it supports that function
