Ihave a PX-W1610A CD-RW. I installed this into my Dell XPS-R400 PII system. I put the Plextor on the secondary IDE as the master. On the primary IDE I have my HD as the master and a Panasonic CR-586 CD-Rom as the slave. DMA is turned on for everything.
When I check the read speeds for the Plextor, it max's out at about 20x, way below what it should. The panasonic works fine.
If I put the CD-Rom as slave on the secondary and leave the Plextor as master on the secondary, the Plextor works fine, but the CD-Rom reads slow.
