The initial area of the CD is physically located at the inside of the CD surface is approximately 4 mm wide and it contains the Table of Contents of the CD (TOC). It contains the number of tracks, the start locations of all tracks, and the length of the entire CD. It is located in the "Q" sub-code channel of the lead-in area. The TOC has information on the type of session and the starting address of the tracks. This information is encoded in the Q Sub-channel in the Lead-in area.
