J1 EIDE Interface Connector

Attach the IDE Interface and Power Cable in order for your computer to recognize that the IDE hard drive is in the system. The IDE interface and power cables must be connected to the hard drive, the mother board or the IDE hard drive interface card.

Attach an available IDE interface connector to J1 on the IDE hard drive. This connector is keyed and will only fit in one orientation. Do not force the connector. The striped or colored edge of the IDE interface cable indicates pin 1. Pin 1 on the IDE interface cable should match pin 1 on the drive connector. On the Maxtor hard drive, pin 1 is closest to the power connector.
