Rapidshare to Shutter By end Of March
The once-popular online file storage and sharing company Rapidshare is closing, following legal troubles related to copyright infringement.
In a message posted to its website Tuesday, Rapidshare recommends all its customers to secure their data. After March 31st, 2015, Rapidshare said all accounts would no longer be accessible and would be deleted automatically.
Rapidshare did not say why it is shutting down, but it seems that it has been under pressure and had been treated the same way as file-sharing services like the Pirate Bay, Megaupload and Isohunt.
Rapidshare was described as "the largest host site of pirated material" by
the Association of American Publishers and was also brought to courts in Germany by six of the largest publishers of educational materials in the U.S.
