We've all fired up RivaTuner, ATITool, and nTune to squeeze out a little more performance out of our videocards, but is there an easier way? Asus thinks so, and they've made overclocking their EN8600GT as easy as turning a dial. Join HardwareLogic as we take 'er for a spin...literally.

Some time ago, ASUS announced their plans to enter the sound card market, with models targeting primarily gamers. This information was received with a solid amount of skepticism, as we could seldom see anyone who thought that a fresh sound card could beat Creative X-Fi models. In order to accomplish this task, the product itself has to be up to par, and read on to see whether it is.

Own a notebook and not impressed with the onboard sound solution? Would you like the ability to be a bit more "hands on" with your audio? Do you want something that's different than what everyone else has? ASUS might just have the answer for you.

While Asus may not be the first to come to mind when it comes to CPU cooling to most people, my perception of Asus' thermal solution products greatly changed when I took a look at the Asus Arctic Square back in May. Last month, I received an Asus Silent Knight II cooler along with the incredible Asus P5E3-Deluxe/WiFi-AP@n motherboard based on the Intel X38 chipset. Meanwhile, the Asus Silent Knight II holds its own buzz excitement while the Asus X38 motherboard captured most of my attention -- I've been hearing quite a bit on the Silent Knight II's commendable performance for quite a while now. This is especially apparent when one of my friends asked me if I knew about "that Asus cooler that looks literally like a jet engine", while I replied back with "the Silent Knight II that's been in my storage for the last month or so?" A few days later, my curiosity regarding the Asus Silent Knight II overcame me as I finally opened it and decided to check out what the jet-engine-Silent-Knight-two (It may look like a jet engine, but hopefully it doesn't sound like one!) can bring about the overclocking community today.

We've got three 8800GTs on hand at the labs of TweakTown which would probably give us more 8800GTs than any retail shop has seen. To say supply on the 8800GT is pretty poor would be an understatement. Maybe the 8800GT got off to a bit of an unfair start; we did compare an overclocked card to stock HD 2900 offerings initially. However, it's safe to say that with the numbers being pulled here today from the stock clocked ASUS card, our initial judgment of the card being a great performer is well justified.

The Striker Extreme II board is due out soon for you SLI nuts, and there should also be a board based on Intel's X48 chipset too, should Asus have plans to update the Maximus with that. If I had the money and I wanted a DDR3 board then the Maximus Extreme is the only motherboard I've seen thus far that's worth seriously considering, but if I wanted the a more cost-effective DDR2-based board, just get what I suggested above or try to grab a second hand Blitz Formula.

Today HardwareLogic looks at the Asus P5K Deluxe WiFi-AP motherboard. Based around Intel's P35 chipset and sporting support for the Core 2 architecture, we're walking into this review with high hopes. After all, Intel chipsets have a reputation for stability, and their Core 2 processors are proving to be very OC friendly. Couple these traits with Asus' market mentality, and it would appear to be the perfect marriage. But will this union ultimately receive our blessing, or should we be looking to annul?

When it comes to the CPU coolers, most people are looking for third party solutions in order to achieve three things: better cooling, overclocking and less noise. Asus, mostly known for its motherboards and graphics cards, sent us its Triton 75 CPU heatsink that aims to answer on all of three main needs of an average user.

This week AMD came to unveil its latest generation of ATI graphics hardware, an awaited release that without a doubt created a lot of expectations and speculation especially because of two factors: 1) The dominant player, Nvidia had just killed its whole high-end line up two weeks before, in favor of an affordable and more efficient model, the GeForce 8800GT. 2) A holiday season that has shaped up to become one of the most exciting in recent times for PC gamers, with a buttload of good titles like Unreal Tournament 3, Crysis, Call of Duty 4, World in Conflict, The Orange Box, Bioshock, Hellgate: London, and the list goes on...

We don't doubt though that as we see new drivers from AMD performance will begin to go up. You have to remember though that this card is priced at $250 US (or roughly $350 AUD) so it's not an expensive card like your normal next-gen offering. Looking over our questions from the intro the card does perform quite well and is a nice step up from the HD 2900 XT at a very good price. It's really in direct competition with the 8800GT although it never really manages to perform as well as it, bar a few cases. It's a good card and if you want a multi card setup on your P35/X38 motherboard, it's going to be a better option than a single 8800 Ultra. Should NVIDIA be worried? Not really. By the time AMD get a really kick ass driver out for the 3870 the new models from NVIDIA could be around the corner and the whole fight starts over again.

This motherboard definitely merits a reward in its own terms, but we simply have to omit one. Even if this board manages not to be too expensive, it is plain rabid to give 400? for 2 gigs of DDR3 RAM. However, if you want the best of the best without caring much about the price, we recommend this board wholeheartedly.
