EPoX, with its EP-5LWA+ i925XE motherboard, has done things a little differently that most other tier-1 manufacturers. Whereas they're happy to load on every conceivable feature known to man and bundle in everything but the kitchen sink, EPoX has been more conservative. The end result is a motherboard that's comparatively light on features, but, crucially, comes in at £30 or so cheaper than the competition. £120 or so buys you a capable Alderwood board that's laid out well, has decent overclocking options and utter stability.

This latest Epox motherboard, the EP9NPA+ Ultra is complete with Port 80 card and PCI Express, although SLI is not supported. PCI Express is definitely the way to go with AMD Athlon64 systems, and a single high end videocard has more than enough power for today's games as do regular Athlon64's and Pentium 4's processors. The Epox EP-9NPA+ Ultra offers users a very flexible nForce 4/PCI Express platform, and has some useful integrated peripherals like a 8-channel audio, 10 USB2.0 ports, IEEE 1394a, and Gigabit LAN.

What this board does shine at is overclocking- reaching an incredible 370MHz on stock cooling is as good as we've seen on an nForce4 board. That, along with the awesome diagnostic features like the LEDs besides all components and the one next to the memory modules make the 9NPA+ SLI stand out from the other nForce4 based boards. Basically, the 9NPA+ SLI is one board that overclockers should definitely put on their short list.

The product performed flawlessly once installed. It was comfortable to wear, easy to use and setup and the sound and recording was crystal clear. Through testing I was able to travel about 15 feet before the reception started to fail during recording. When everything is said and done, it would be a solid and worthwhile purchase if you lifestyle is in need of a little freedom.
