Featuring Intel's P965 Express northbridge and ICH8 southbridge chipsets, the Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 motherboard supports all Socket 775 processors from the flagship Core 2 Duo/Extreme to the Pentium D/4 and Celeron D. Either 1006MHz Front Side Bus or 800MHz FSB is the number to remember, but it will also accept 533MHz FSB chips if you're really strapped for a chip. The ATX motherboard's four DDR2 memory slots accommodate a maximum of 8GB of DDR2-533/667/800 RAM, and unofficially at least it also works with DDR2-1066 memory modules. There are a few integrated devices outside of the standard collection associated with the P965 Express chipset; such as an IDE controller, 7.1 channel Azalia High Definition Audio and a 10/1000 Gigabit network card.

One of the biggest criticisms of building an Intel system from scratch is the fact that their motherboards are almost always more expensive than competing AMD boards. The same could be said for CPU prices and memory prices, until the launch of Core 2 Duo and AM2 respectively. With the introduction of Gigabyte's S-Series of Core 2 Duo motherboards, they aim to reach the budget Core 2 Duo buyer. By using the year-old 945P chipset, they are able to offer a board than will retail for under $100! They also offer a low-priced P965 board as well. Both boards have basic features, but should excel in overclocking. But how does the older chipset perform?

The Gigabyte GV-NX76G256HI-RH won't win many benchmarks or fans based on its 3D gaming performance. It is a decent mid-range card to be fair. While it did slightly better than a reference model, the standard clock speeds mean that it can never compete with the overclocked variants out there. Nor can it stand against NVIDIA's latest GeForce 7300 GT, which in certain configurations will surpass the Gigabyte in both performance and value. Gigabyte probably realizes this; hence it is appealing to a different group, the niche HTPC enthusiasts with some appropriate enhancements. In fact, the GeForce 7600 GS already has most of the prerequisites for a HTPC, from its passive cooler to its relatively modest price. The inclusion of a HDMI connector and the HDCP encryption keys are critical features that change this graphics card instantly into a must-have for those who wish to play HD content using a PC. The presence of a popular hit game like Civilization IV and the latest Power DVD application (with H.264 support) sweetens the deal even more.

If you're an enthusiast or overclocker, Gigabyte's mainstream GA-965P-DS3 may slip past your radar, but you don't know what you're missing out till you've experienced first hand one of the most affordable and overclockable Core 2 Duo motherboards today. This is definitely a keeper.

Gigabyte M59SLI-S5 has a tough test ahead with the M2N32-SLI Deluxe having already set such high standards. On paper there looks to be very little standing between these two motherboards. Even the design and layout of this Gigabyte board bares numerous similarities to that of the ASUS version. Given both motherboards feature the nForce 590 SLI, the feature lists are also very similar.

We have yet another of the popular GeForce 7900 GT in our labs for review. Again, this is a non-standard version that uses a Zalman cooler to achieve both quietness and low temperatures. Gigabyte has also overclocked it to ensure that the GV-NX79T256DP-RH will stand comparably against the many competitors in the market.

The first performance chipset to provide native support for Core 2, is Intel's 965-Express series. With that in mind, we've taken a look at a high-end offering from Gigabyte. The GA-965P-DQ6 looks impressive on paper. Let's see how it pans out in our comprehensive review.

Start hurling harsh queues of somewhat random read/write
requests at the RAID arrays and their performance drops right down.
Meanwhile, the i-RAM wonders what all the fuss is about, tackling the
requests around 11 times faster than the RAID-0 array. Put simply, the
i-RAM trounces the hard disks.

The Gigabyte 3D Rocket Cooler-Pro PCU22-VG heatsink cools quietly, and it can also ramp up fan speed to take on major heat loads too. The heatsink comes with a fan speed controller that allows you to dial in the speed (and noise) of the cooling fan to suit the situation. At the top of the cooler, a series of very bright blue LEDs glow under the translucent cap, making the 3D Rocket Cooler-Pro a great candidate for windowed cases. The heatsink mounts to socket 462/A AthlonXP, socket 478 & 775 Pentium 4, and socket 754/940/939 Athlon64 processors via a high density forged copper base...

The Gigabyte GA-8N-SLI Quad Royal is the first motherboard ever to feature four physical PCI Express x16 slots. This very special motherboard is based on the nVidia nForce SLI Intel Edition chipset, and as such supports Socket 775 Intel Pentium processors. The board actually has two nForce4 SLI chipsets PCB, the Intel (Northbridge) and AMD (Southbridge) edition work in tandem to support all four PCI Express x16 slots, and this is what makes the GA-8N-SLI Quad Royal feasible...

While not necessarily known for producing chassis, Gigabyte has gotten its feet wet into this market of late. Today we take a look at one of their newer chassis-the Poseidon, which is a built using lightweight Aluminum and comes with two colors- silver and black. We received the black version from Golden Systems- Gigabyte's local distributor. Lets start off with the exterior of the chassis. Read on...

First seen in its mid-range cards, Gigabyte has extended its Silent-Pipe II series of passive coolers to the low-end Radeon X1300 PRO, creating a card that seems dead set to become a favorite with HTPC enthusiasts. How does this silent card compare with the reference card? Read on as we bring you the details...

Recently I decided to upgrade myself from my rather aged x700 to a brand spanking new Gigabyte Geforce 7800GT 256MB VIVO. The all powerful 7800GT, but does it really live up to its name? Read on! This card was developed under the NX78 series. This is a card that targets the top end of the market, which means we will be expecting a lot from the NX78. Let's see what it can do...

Gigabyte's GA-G1975X G1-Turbo is designed to be the ultimate Gaming platform solution for Cross Fire and with any luck SLI as well. Yet there were very few reviews which tested the board in a CrossFire configuration and none I could Google using a CF solution based on X1900XTXs. While these are very costly this wouldn't be unreasonable for a "high-performance" platform supporting the Pentium-D 955X Presler. For our failure to test the system in a CF configuration I must apologize to our readers and to Gigabyte since this review does the G1-Turbo a disservice in that respect...
