With every serious AV manufacturer falling over themselves to climb aboard the 'full HD' bandwagon, a full HD set from JVC is long overdue. But it's finally here in the shape of the LT-46DZ7, a 46in set that proudly backs up its 1,920 x 1,080 pixel count with absolutely every last drop of JVC's current TV processing technology.

JVC uses several different technologies to improve image quality and improve black levels that work well. This set has some of the best black levels I have seen on an HDTV set. Dark scenes in movies are crisp and clear and you still get good detail at the transitions form dark to light colors rather than pixilated blocks.

JVC led the way with hard disk-based camcorders when it launched its Everio range back in 2004. But the format has taken a while to catch the public eye, and now Sony has entered the fray with its DCR-SR90 and SR100. So JVC needed to up the ante, and its answer is the GZ-MG505EK. Whereas the miniscule MC range had the three-chip MC500EK at its pinnacle, now the larger MG series has the MG505EK. It has almost identical optics to its tiny cousin, but in the larger G chassis.

Although it's not perfect, we've got a lot of time for the 26DX7BJ. Even with its couple of flaws it's still got enough cutting edge strings to its bow to make it a perfectly respectable main TV and a cracking second-room set - especially with an Xbox 360 in tow...

The first few Everios were premium devices aimed at early adopters, with the GZ-MC500EK being a particularly accomplished example. But at over £700, the latter is never going to be a device to take on the mass market. So JVC launched the MG series, which doesn't include any models as small and sexy as the MC500EK, but has other advantages. Apart from a more affordable price, the larger form factor has meant that the MGs can use a 1.8in hard disk instead of the Hitachi Microdrive of previous Everios. So larger capacities are available, with the GZ-MG50EK we looked at offering a commendable 30GB of storage....

The engineers at JVC have created a series of Everio ultra-small, super lightweight camcorders with built-in 20GB or 30GB drives that record up to seven hours of MPEG2 video. This is many times the capability of wildly popular DVD camcorders like the Sony DCR-DVD203 that record 20 minutes of best-quality video on single-sided 3-inch 1.4GB disks. And in keeping with the trend of combining digital still cameras and camcorders, the new GZ-MG70U has a 2.12MP CCD so it takes 1600 x 1200 pixel stills. It's not the 12-megapixel Canon EOS 5D but it can satisfy your need for a photograph or 10,000...

Weighing in at 57 g, the XA-A50 headphones boast an audio player with 128 MB of flash memory and support for MP3 and WMA formats. Wearing the player is a comfortable experience, but at the same time they're also thick enough to make ones ears triple in size; be prepared for some casual staring. Also, as the ear loops are of the one-size-fits-all kind the headphones also tend to be a tad on the loose side, and especially so when wearing glasses...
