The Basic Series fans are the same Real Silent fans as we looked at last year. But the real difference comes with the included Silicon Fan mounts and the color scheme being used on the 80 and 92mm as well. The fans are quiet but slightly underpowered in CFM. But the difference is in both noise / cfm is very slim. But their cheaper than the Noctua's and seriously though, how quiet do you want them? These are pretty quiet already :).

In the past few years we have seen the move towards quiet computing. In the early days of modding, the aim was to achieve a well-cooled system no matter what the cost, with the "cost" usually being annoyingly loud fans. No more, some have said. With the multitude of other "quiet cases" out there currently, Nexus has set out to beat them all with their Caterpillar, dubbed the "Silent System PC Case". Can this innovative case live up to the promises?

There's not much to say really. The Nexus DiskTwin do a great job of keeping my harddrive a little bit cooler and my case noise free. I'm running with an Accelero S1, with no fans inside my case. It's really silent and I'd like to keep it that way. There are lots of great cases on the market that have some way of reducing the vibrations coming from harddrives. But other cases simply don't. If that's the case than this is the way to kill those pesky vibrations. Installation is easy, they look great and their cheap too. Only 10 euro's a pop.

Nexus is known for their silent 120mm fans, today we have their latest product in for test, an ATX case build for silence, with 2x120mm fans and foam padding it aims to keep the noise down, but can it keep a high end system cool at the same time?

Opening the case I was greeted by an interesting and, to me, unique layout . Two things that got my eyes to widen a bit were the noise absorption material around the interior and the placement of the hard drive cage. Installed inside the case are two Nexus Real Silent 120mm fans, one placed at the lower front of the case as an intake and the other as an exhaust at the lower middle rear of the case. Having used Nexus fans before, I can tell you that they are quiet and adding to the silence both fans are mounted with rubber pins/rivets. I tryed to remove the front panel to get a good look at how the sliding door worked, but it was secured really tight and I couldn't get to the left side holding clips and didn't want to break anything, I can tell you that its done with spring tension. The interior is almost completely covered in the sound wave foam including the removable side, the only place its missing is where the hard drive cage is located, where the power supply mounts and the front panel area.

Once everything was installed I powered up the pc and I had to check the fans were spinning as it is practically silent, especially with the cpu cooler fan turned down to low speed. Just the occasional murmur from the hard drive and that's it. Nice!

Now Nexus has come up with a new case in their range of quiet cases, the Caterpillar. It comes equipped with two quiet fans and the panels are covered in sound-absorbing material. How well have they accomplished with the compromise between being quiet and having a good ventilation this time?

The outside of the NX-8050 isn't flashy and it doesn't have a lighted fan or a window but it does have an attractive flat black finish, a plus in my book. On the front the fixed cables exit the housing and the connectors for the modular cables are mounted to the case. On the bottom you can see the 120mm fan used to cool the unit. On the back you will find the usual on off switch and power cable connector. There is no supply voltage selector switch as this is handled automatically by the PSU. The venting on the back is made up of a very open and attractive honeycomb pattern for plenty of air flow.

The design team that created this case did an amazing job at making it look good. The cooling in the case would be more than adequate if a blowhole and side panel fans had been included. The all aluminum finish really does stand out but its not enough to warrant the price tag. At an expected price of close to 300 Euro this case could use a lot of work before I would even consider recommending it. No one will want to spend this much on a case only to have to purchase fans and cut a blowhole in it so its safe to use.

Back in the year 2000, a group of heat conductivity and noise reduction experts got together and formed Nexus Technology. Since that time they have become known for their cooling prowess with such products as heat pipe coolers for both processors and chipsets. With the growing diversity of the PC market, however, many companies have spread their knowledge and expertise into other areas. Such is the case with Nexus. The topic of today's discussion will be the NX8060, a 600W modular power supply that makes claims of being both stingy with your electricity (efficient) and also being very silent. With this company's background, we may be in for some pleasant surprises.

Today I am going to be reviewing a Northbridge cooler this is something that I personally have never felt the need to upgrade but a lot of people do, especially if their current cooler has a fan and they wish to use something totally silent, like the Nexus NHP-2200 which I will be looking at in this review.

I have planned and built systems ranging from media centers all the way through to highly advanced application specific servers and in so doing have come into contact with more different types and brands of PSU you than you can shake a stick at. The NX-8060 is one of the best PSUs in its class that I have had the pleasure of using. The price tag is not through the roof for this specification PSU and the performance is excellent.

Today I am going to be reviewing a piece of equipment that's task is sometimes overlooked but nonetheless is quite important. I am going to test the Nexus Frizzbee, a silent hard disk drive cooler. Before taking a look at the Nexus Frizzbee here is some background info about Nexus.
