This product has been developed jointly with DFI. As Sapphire's own PURE Innovation series are always full of original technical solutions, this motherboard might offer something extraordinary. Since its BIOS allows reducing CPU, memory, chipset and bus voltages, we can speak of another bandwagon named "down-clocking".

The Sapphire Toxic 512MB Radeon HD3870 graphics card offers strong performance right out of the box, but if you have any interest in overclocking you can turn it into a real powerhouse. There are really no negatives to discuss in terms of performance, quality, and overall appeal. The card performs well, it stays cool and quiet, and the bundle of accessories is generous.

Sapphire has been around long enough to know how to put out a great video card. Just a few weeks ago we took a long look at the Toxic 3870 which is an overclocked 3870 with a single slot cooling system. Yeah that was a good one. But now we are here to take a look at the budget HD3650 from Sapphire. But this budget card has an added punch to its core and memory clocks as it is overclocked as well, just like the Toxic 3870.

The 1GB Sapphire Radeon HD3870 X2 graphics card couples the power of two HD3870 GPUs on one card to provide the muscle necessary to smoothly drive today's games with ease. And if you are a player that insists on the absolute cutting edge and top notch performance at any cost you can take advantage of CrossFireX and use two of these cards in tandem.

About a week ago we had a chance to review a pair of 1GB Sapphire HD3850 Graphics cards running in Crossfire configuration. Today, instead of using two cards to get two GPU's we are going to review the HD3870X2 which has a pair of GPU's mounted on one card.

When AMD introduced the 3850 graphics card, it came bundled with 256MB of RAM which is a bit on the lower side for games that come out nowadays. Granted the 3850 is targeted as a mid-range card, it still pumps out pretty decent performance so a higher frame buffer could help. Today we look at the 3850 solution from AMD's biggest partner when it comes to graphics cards- the Sapphire HD3850 card with a frame buffer of 512MB.

We're writing to let you all know that we have just posted a new article at HotHardware in which we evaluate a somewhat unique Radeon-based graphics card, the Sapphire Radeon HD 3870 512MB Toxic. Unlike most reference 3870 cards, the Sapphire Radeon HD 3870 512MB Toxic differs from ATI's reference design and features higher GPU and memory speeds, a fancy single-slot cooling solution that leverages Microloops' Vapor-X technology, and it has one of the better retail bundles we have seen in quite a while too. Come on by the site and check it out...

Hong Kong-based Sapphire has been in the industry for a while, manufacturing primarily video cards and motherboard chipsets. It's the largest supplier of ATI-based cards in the world, and was the first to release a card with an HDMI connector. ThinkComputers got its hands on Sapphire's Radeon HD 3650 OC Edition, a faster, more spacious version of the mid-range card from the red team. We subject this card to a battery of tests to see how it measures up to one of the best the green team-nVidia-has to offer.

Sapphire is always trying to figure out how to out do itself with their graphic cards and this holds true with the HD3870. Once they take a card and kick it up a notch or two they brand it with the now familiar Toxic label. Does the Sapphire HD3870 Toxic Edition live up to it namesakes?

Yes you can go out and purchase one of the cards from any of the several manufacturers that endorse the ATI brand. The Toxic HD 3870 is an overclocked version of the ATI 3870 chipset. The Toxic HD 3870 uses a single slot cooler that would be a godsend for those that are tight on space or have motherboards with the PCIe slots too close together. This non-reference cooler helps to cool a RV670 clocked to 825MHz from the default 775MHz. Time to put the Toxic 3870 on the bench and see what performance numbers we can get.

The Sapphire Radeon HD 3650 512MB differs from ATI's reference design in that it has double the frame buffer memory (512MB vs. 256MB) and a much higher GPU clock speed (800MHz vs. 725MHz). The Sapphire Radeon HD 3650 512MB also has a fairly good accessory bundle and its priced right too. Head on over to the site and check it out...
