The Ultra X3 600W power supply has a lot to recommend. Its fully modular design and FlexForce cabling system are very unique and will be a boon to users who like to have neat, tidy installs. The cable assortment is complete and provides the user with plenty of connectors supporting a wide variety of configurations. The X3 is relatively compact, very stable and efficient. This should be more than enough PSU for the vast majority of users.

Ultra has been in the business of producing good looking products which are known to perform well, and still not cost a fortune. We recently reviewed the Ultra ULT33186 Chilltec TEC CPU Cooler, which offered a unique blend of technologies into one product. Equally as unique is the Ultra X-Pro 800W Aluminum PSU ULT33185, which matches a very attractive power supply chassis with high-performance electronics previously found in mission critical components. Offering 800 watts of power gives the X-Pro a very wide range of applications: from pedestal servers to hardcore gaming systems. Benchmark Reviews has seen plenty of power supplies that look good, and they often promise more than they deliver. Ultra's X-Pro 800W will need to prove that function still comes before fashion.

Ultra Products has came up with a little solution that will not only allow you to easily add USB devices to your computer easily, but it will also allow you to connect the Hub to a second computer so you can share the devices between the two computers.

The Ultra Grid is an affordable mid tower case with two 120mm set up front and back, the side panel features a fancy window, which give you a look inside at the tool less features for HDD and Optical drives. Large enough to fit a Geforce 8800 GTX let's see if it can keep an overclocked Core 2 Duo running cool.

I was always taught that water and electronics don't mix. However, with the onslaught of high end watercooling systems out there, is there a worthwhile alternative for those that fear the H20 Ultra's ChillTEC might just be the high performance cooler for you.

A thermo-electric cooler (TEC), also known as a Peltier Cooler, is a solid-state active heat pump capable of transferring heat from one side of the device to the other. The Ultra ULT33186 ChillTec CPU cooler uses a TEC, sandwiched between two copper plates, each plate with four heat-pipes leading to a large fan cooled radiator. Ideal for hardcore cooling, Benchmark Reviews will discover the potential advantages over standard air cooling solutions, and weigh the ChillTec against a large collection of competitors.

Over the years, we have come to expect nothing but excellence from Ultra, they have time and time again impressed us. Earlier, we discussed what differentiates a power supply from just being another unit sitting on the shelves and what makes a power supply a good buy, it isn't always just about performance, but features, aesthetics, and price. That being said, Ultra's X3 800W and 1000W are both excellent performing units, but so are many other power supplies. But, as we have seen, there is a lot more to the X3 family then just performance.

Ultra, a word derived from the Latin word meaning 'beyond'. Used as a prefix it indicates greater than normal quality or importance. Living up to their name ULTRA is known for bringing products to the enthusiast that could be considered beyond that of the normal. For years ULTRA has been on the forefront of the computer enthusiast scene giving us products from Cases and Power supplies down to Flash Drives and Mp3 Players. Today we have the opportunity to take a look at one in an ever growing line of power supplies from ULTRA, enter the X3 1000W Energy Efficient Modular Power Supply. Boasting a whopping 1 Kilowatt of power for you to play with while retaining 85% energy efficiency and full range active PFC. While ULTRA's claims look pretty good on paper I am curious to see what this unit can do once we get it on the bench.

Looking around the outside of the case you will find a simple design with some accents here and there. The paint looks good and seems like it will hold up to every day use. The front face is completely plastic and houses four 5.25 bays, two 3.5 bays, power and reset buttons, a nice shiny ULTRA logo and vents on the side to allow for good air flow from the front intake fan. In the middle of the Power and Reset buttons are the Power LED (Blue) and the Hard drive activity LED (Green); both are extremely bright, almost too bright in the dark. The case also includes front audio, USB 2.0, and FireWire ports for your convenience.

It's hard to find someone who can fully utilize a 1Kw power supply, while 800W seems to be a sweet spot for most high-end rigs. We are taking a look at two such power supplies from Ultra, the X-Finity and X-Pro.

As soon as I opened the box and looked at the specs of the Ultra X3 1000W ATX power supply the famous song "I've Got The Power" popped in my head :) Single +12V rail with whooping 70A! I bet it's something you wished for.

The Ultra X3 proves itself to be a tough product to beat. Modular cabling ensures that you only use the cables you need, and the FlexForce design allows for easy cable routing and improved airflow. The fit and finish is excellent, lending a classy look to the PSU. Voltages remained steady under the harshest testing I could come up with, and to top it off, it performed in relative silence. Add to this Ultra's lifetime warranty, and you have a definite winner.

The Ultra MicroFly BX6 is one of the nicest cases I've had the chance to work with. The classy good looks, flawless finish, and small footprint will find a home in any home media center setup. Installation of components is relatively painless, with plenty of room for the necessary bits that make up a good media PC.

Heatpipe cooling has been around long enough now where I don't need to explain how that works, and I gave a very basic explanation of how TEC's work earlier. So why are there two heatpipes cooling what should be the cold side of the TEC? You would think that in order for the TEC to be more efficient they would have placed all four heatpipes on the hot side. Here is why they chose this design - 50W. A 50W TEC is no match for a modern CPU and would easily be overpowered by the heat generated. In order to overcome the limitation of the TEC, they augment the cooling by moving two heatpipes down to the bottom. I'm sure this was done to minimize the system power requirements (which is listed as a 350W PSU minimum) but I doubt the TEC will help a whole hell of a lot when a system is under load. It will be all heatpipe, baby. I would like to see this setup with a 150W TEC or better and see how it performs, but then the PSU requirements would go way up which would minimize the number of consumers available who could purchase the ChillTec.
