When Zalman and Fatal1ty team up, you expect some special results. The FC-ZV9 graphics card cooler combines good cooling performance, great looks and wide compatibility into a product that any gamer would be proud to have in their case. The nickel plating and red LEDs give it a distinctive look that many folks will find appealing. The price, however, may deter some potential buyers.

The Zalman CNPS9700 LED is a supersized version of the CNPS9500-series heatsinks we've all come to know so well. Now, there's no point in dancing around the fact that Zalman's CNPS9700 LED is just about the best socket 775 heatsink FrostyTech has tested to date, and among the very best ever on the socket 939/AM2 platform. It's been a while since Zalman produced a heatsink that displayed such admirable thermal qualities, and even more impressive considering the low noise levels... The Zalman CNPS9700 LED is a big copper heatsink, made up of about a hundred 0.2mm copper fins attached at regular intervals to three copper heatpipes that form a figure-eight. The entire heatsink is cooled by one 110mm diameter fan which is internally illuminated with blue LEDs.

The CNPS7700-CU LED is Zalman's famed 'flower' heatsink technology at its best, and it's a method of manufacturing that offers very direct thermal pathways between the cooling fins and heat source. Each individual copper fin is in direct contact with the CPU, and that dramatically reduces elements of thermal resistance from entering into the equation. Coupled with a large slow moving fan, the Zalman CNPS7700-Cu LED uses its sheer amount of surface area, and large volume of air, to cool itself quietly above all else.

The Fatal1ty FC-ZE1 Champion Series case represents the ideals of one of the ultimate gamers. Trimmed and fitted in thick black aluminum and white advertising the case asks to be paid attention to. These features as well as the presence of a healthy number of cooling fans leads to a very stylist looking case but at the same time a very heavy one.

When creating a PC system for use at a desk, noise is somewhat of a concern, but a certain level of noise has become acceptable to achieve cooler temperatures. When setting out to create a PC for home theater duty, noise and heat get a lot more attention. Zalman has tried to make the best of both worlds with their HD135... I cannot find anything I do not like about this case; it looks great, cools excellently, and has plenty of room. Given all of these positives and the absolutely excellent engineering that went into it, I award the Zalman HD135 HTPC Case the "Highly Recommended" Award.

I'm very impressed by Zalman's newest PSU offering. The ZM600-HP seems to deliver the goods everywhere one looks. The heatpipe feature keeps it running cool and the LEDs keep it looking cool. This PSU has enough power to supply all but the most extreme systems with ease. Outstanding stability and efficiency are complimented by near-silent operation and a pleasing blue glow.

Zalman's CNPS9500 AT is identical in materials and size to previous CNPS9500-series heatsinks, but this heatsink is offered with a 4-pin PWM fan for Intel-based computer systems, rather than the standard 3-pin fan power cable. The heatsink is voluminous in size and weighs about 530grams. Like all heatsinks produced by Zalman, it's intended to operate quietly and efficiently without much noise. Because the Zalman CNPS9500 AT heatsink uses a Pulse Width Modulation fan, no FanMate2 fan speed controller is included with it - it's just not needed.

A compact CPU cooler from Zalman for those small cases and office PCs, carrying the CNPS ultra quiet tag, we find out if it lives up to Zalman reputation of silent computing.

The Zalman CNPS7700-Cu is one of the largest heatsinks in production by this Korean manufacturer, and like most Zalman coolers it is squarely aimed at low noise operation. The CNPS7700-Cu is an extension of the CNPS7000-Cu series, though it is about 30mm larger in total diameter, and weighs in at a hefty 918 grams. The heatsink is compatible with socket 478 & 775 Intel Pentium and Core 2 Duo processors, and socket 754/939/940 & AM2 AMD Athlon64 chips. Zalman assemble the CNPS7700-Cu heatsink from about 60 individual copper fins which are joined together at the center; the metal fins are compressed under great pressure and bolted firmly together to create the resulting heatsink shape, sort of like advanced origami.

The Zalman Fatal1ty FS-C77 heatsink is the Zalman CNPS7700-Cu heatsink with a coat of red lacquer applied and a slightly beefier 120mm red LED illuminated fan. The two heatsinks are compatible with the same variety of processors, but the CNPS7700-Cu is skewed for silent running while the FS-C77 ships without the Fanmate 2 fan speed controller. Apart from these three differences, the two heatsinks are identical in every other way. The Zalman Fatal1ty FS-C77 is a large cooler by any measure, and unlike every other Zalman heatsink this one is entirely tuned for performance. It's translucent 120mm fan rotates at 2400RPM, and a series of red LEDs light up the blades nicely in a darkened case.

With the introduction of the Reserator 2, Zalman has taken a great product and made it even better. They've addressed a number of issues that I found annoying in the earlier versions and improved the performance dramatically. I like the new look a lot and the enhanced cooling is augmented by new safety features that make the Reserator 2 an outstanding product. Silent PC aficionados will find the increased performance very attractive, allowing some moderate overclocking without any noise penalty.

Zalman's association with Johnathan "Fatal1ty" Wendel has yielded yet another outstanding product. The FC-ZE1 Champion Series computer enclosure is a superb chassis with great aesthetics and the performance to back it up. The design, quality, craftsmanship and materials brought to bear in the creation of this chassis are second to none and culminate in a product that is, in my opinion, without peer. The design elements in combination with a rich, innovative feature set make installation a breeze and allow the case to exhibit great cooling performance while keeping noise to a minimum.
