Apple Leads in U.S. Smartphone Market
Apple dominated the market share of smartphone subscribers in the United States in the three-month period from November 2016 to January 2017, with 44.6 percent of the total, according to comScore.
Citing data from comScore MobiLens on the U.S. smartphone market share trends, the report said that Samsung of South Korea followed, with a 28 percent market share. Taiwan's HTC ranked fifth at 2.3 percent, lagging behind LG of South Korea at 10.3 percent and Motorola's 4.3 percent.
In terms of operating systems, the Android platform led as the No.1 smartphone platform, with 53.2 percent of the U.S. market share in the latest report. Apple's iOS platform trailed behind at 44.6 percent, Microsoft at 1.6 percent, and the Blackberry platform at 0.6 percent, the report added.
