Following may PC hardware vendors, Asus has also its updated GR8S Steam Machine in the works. The device continues the existing GR8 2.5 liter design, but will be updated with any future Intel Core i5/i7 and Nvidia GeForce hardware available at the time of its November launch.

GR8 and GR8S core features include:

• SupremeFX audio for immersive sound
• Intel Ethernet and GameFirst III for lag-free online gaming
• Built-in Miracast receiver and dual-band 802.11 ac Wi-Fi
• Low heat and and power use with a low operational noise of 20dB idle
• Slide-off covers for additional 2.5" HDD/ SSD and DIMM upgrades

Existing GR8 owners can also add SteamOS to their systems following the official launch later this year.
