ASUS Launches X800 based Graphics Card

ASUS Launches X800 based Graphics Card

GPUs Aug 23,2005 0

ASUS introduced the Extreme AX800 Silencer graphics card, powered by ATi RADEON X800, and incorporated ASUS' SilentCool Technology, promising high performance with efficient but noisless cooling. "In the past, enhanced video capability also comes with louder noise," said Kent Chien, Director of ASUS Graphics Business. "With ASUS SilentCool Technology, users can now enjoy high-performance graphics card applications without hearing the noisy cooling fan rotation."

ASUS' SilentCool Technology provides a fan-less thermal solution, by utilizing a large heatsink design for absorbing heat away from the GPU. The hidden heat pipe and stacked fins, both made of copper are designed to offer fast heat dissipation. SilentCool is similar to technologies used in processor coolers, and are claimed to reduce CPU temperature up to 40 ˚ C compared to fan-less thermal solutions on competing cards.

In addition, the stacked copper fins are positioned on a unique joint design, which enables the fins to rotate 90 ˚, depending on the locations of critical components such as the CPU, mosfets or capacitors etc., for optimal heat dissipation.

Asus Extreme AX800 graphics card also geatures the Splendid Video Intelligence Technology. Built into the driver of ASUS graphics cards, Splendid detects activation and usage of video applications and automatically optimizes image quality. Splendid further provides five modes for best visual results in different video applications (Standard, Game, Theater, Scenery and Night).

Owners of Asus cards will also be familiar with the GameFace Messenger, an interface similar to those of the most popular messenger services to streamline the process of inviting multiple players online to a gameference (game conference).

GameLiveShow is another feature incorporated in ASUS graphics cards that is created to allow gamers to stream broadcast their gaming experiences live over the Internet. Other players can now go online to check out how the experts do it.

For popular LAN party team games such as Counter Strike and Unreal Tournaments, strategy is the key to victory. The GameReplay feature records gaming action into MPEG4 video files so that teams can review all the moves and tactics later on to get better for the next tournament.

The retail package of the card will also include two 3D games:

Project Snow Blind - A multiplayer combat FPS game.
Xpand Rally - Race with rally cars.

The ASUS Extreme AX800 Silencer is currently available available.
