Fujitsu Debuts LifeBook S6510 Notebook

Fujitsu today introduced the LifeBook S6510 notebook, a 14-inch widescreen system weighing just four pounds. Fujitsu also introduced the 5.2-pound LifeBook S7210 thin-and-light corporate mainstream notebook, a 14-inch wide notebook with a modular bay and an of security features.

The LifeBook S6510 notebook, equipped with a Intel Core 2 Duo processor, ranges from less than an inch thin to a mere 1.42 inches at its thickest. A modular bay fits a variety of devices including a wide array of optical drives, a modular bay battery that extends computing time from 4:30 hours to 6:15 hours, and a weight-saver insert that drops the weight to about 3.7 pounds.

A magnesium-alloy lid protects the notebook's bright 14-inch wide Crystal View LED backlit WXGA display.

The LifeBook S7210 corporate mainstream notebook, configurable with one of three Intel Core 2 processors, delivers up to 6.5 hours of battery power with an extended life battery that can be placed in the modular bay.

The LifeBook S6510 and LifeBook S7210 notebooks share many of the features including an integrated webcam for video conferencing. The notebooks offer a combination of physical, hardware and software security features including a biometric fingerprint swipe sensor, embedded Trusted Platform Module (TPM) and the integrated theft-deterrent security panel with more than 800,000 possible passwords. In addition, the LifeBook S7210 offers a dedicated smart card slot.

A variety of communications options are available for both the LifeBook S6510 and LifeBook S7210 notebooks, including a modem and an integrated Gigabit Ethernet LAN, the Intel Wireless WiFi 4965AGN Network Connection and optional Bluetooth wireless technology. In addition, the LifeBook S7210 notebook is available with the optional Atheros Super AG Wireless LAN.

The LifeBook S6510 notebook, priced starting at $1,529 and the LifeBook S7210 notebook, priced starting at $1,329 are immediately available through the Fujitsu direct sales force, website, channel partners and select retail outlets.
