Intel Closes Its App Store
Intel plans to close its app store on March 11. The store was designed originally for Netbooks and later for other devices such as ultrabooks.
The company said that by closing Intel AppUp center, it would be able to "focus more than ever on developing the next generation of platform innovation."
Application downloads will remain available until the store closes on March 11th, 2014. Intel will continue to offer English only support to users via email until June 15th, 2014.
Although most applications should work as normal after March 11, some of them require communication with the AppUp client and may not work after May 15th, 2015. For a list of these impacted applications, click here. Those who have one of these applications may contact Intel to claim a refund.
Intel launched the AppUp center in January 2010. At that time, Intel said the store was aimed at Netbooks but the company expected the store to migrate to PCs, smartphones, TVs, and other devices.
