Kingston Digital, Inc., the flash memory affiliate of Kingston Technology, has acquired the USB technology and assets of IronKey from Imation.
Kingston has been offering encrypted portable solutions for businesses for over 10 years now. IronKey has been part of the Imation family since 2011. With the acquisition, Kingston will be able to offer a more comprehensive portfolio of products and services.
IronKey is perhaps best known for its highly secure USB flash drives, which use 256-bit AES encryption algorithm to secure data and a stainless steel case. The secure storage devices are validated by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to meet the stringent Level 3 criteria of FIPS 140-2. Combined with the cloud-based IronKey Enterprise Management Service, data security can be managed and audited from anywhere in the world.
During this integration process, Kingston assured that there will be no immediate changes to the way business is transacted by channel partners currently supporting IronKey products. IronKey customers with any questions or concerns may contact their current distribution or reseller partners, or email email@example.com.
In addition to Kingston’s acquisition, DataLocker Inc. has purchased the IronKey Enterprise Management Services (EMS) platform which provides centralized management to encrypted USB drives. DataLocker previously acquired the SafeConsole management system from BlockMaster, the solution that Kingston uses on its current management-ready encrypted USB Flash drives.
