LSI Logic launches the Turnkey DVD Recorder manufacturing kit, DMN-8600MK
LSI Logic Corporation today announced that it is at the forefront of the DVD market with its newest solution, the DMN-8600MK DVD recorder turnkey manufacturing kit
Based on the DiMeNsion(TM) 8600 (DMN-8600) DVD recorder system processor, the DMN-8600MK includes all the hardware and software elements needed to design a full- featured, cost-effective DVD recorder.
The comprehensive manufacturing kit includes the DMN-8600-based digital board, analog interface boards, front panel, power supply and DVD+RW ATAPI drive. A DVD recorder built on the DMN-8600MK can accept video from broadcast TV and other analog video sources for display or recording purposes. In addition, the manufacturing kit enables a DVD recorder to act as an easy-to-use personal content manager with its FireWire interface and ability to transcode DV video. These functions allow consumers to preserve high- quality digital video on a DVD directly from their DV camcorders using only the DVD recorder remote control.
The kit supports DVD+RW / +R video recording standards, ensuring playback compatibility with the widest range of DVD players. The recorded disks can be played in most existing DVD-ROM drives (typically for PC data storage) and consumer DVD video players, addressing consumers' concerns about compatibility between devices. The kit also supports the playback of DVD-Video disks with Dolby® Digital and DTS audio, VCD, and CD disks containing MPEG-1 layer 3 (MP3), CD-DA audio formats, as well as the display of JPEG-encoded pictures.
