Microsoft Granted Patent For Dual-display Foldable Device
Microsoft has been granted a patent by US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) describes a dual-screen tablet like foldable device.
The patent is not new, it was filed in August 2017, but it was published on Thursday.
Titled ‘Hinged device’ talks about a hinge mechanism to fold a dual-screen notebook like device in half.
“The description relates to hinged devices, such as hinged computing devices. One example can include a first portion and a second portion that have hinge ends rotatably secured relative to a hinge shaft. The example can also include a u-shaped friction arm extending from a first end positioned around the hinge shaft to a second end positioned around the hinge shaft and a pop-up assembly positioned along the hinge shaft between the first end and the second end and configured to create a bias to rotate the first and second portions away from one another,” notes Microsoft.
Microsoft has been rumored to be working on a foldable device for a long time now, but the company never officially acknowledged it. These patent don’t usually mean that there is device coming, but report suggest that it could be implemented in Andromeda.
