Microsoft To Keep Nokia Brand For Low-end Smartphones

Smartphones Oct 24,2014 0

Microsoft has confirmed the transition from Nokia Lumia to Microsoft Lumia branding for its mobile products, but it will continue to sell low-end phones with the Nokia brand and has licensed the brand for these type of devices. Whan Microsoft announced that the Nokia Devices & Services business would become part of the company, it also shared that the Lumia smartphone brand, would become part of the Microsoft family. Since then, Microsoft has been making the change from Nokia to Microsoft in its websites, packaging and other consumer touch points.

According to Tuula Rytilä, Senior Vice President of Marketing for Phones at Microsoft, global and websites are going through a transition in the coming days and the company's social channels will get a new name too - they will be called Microsoft Lumia.

In the last couple of months, Microsoft has already made some name changes to our apps to better reflect that these apps now come from Microsoft.

Tuula added that Microsoft will continue to sell and support the Nokia Lumia phones that are out in the market, such as the recently announced Lumia 830 and Lumia 730/735.

Microsoft will also continue to sell Nokia-branded, entry-level category of phones, such as the Nokia 130.
