MSI Introduces RD480 Neo2 - CrossFire Mainboards
MSI is adopting ATi?s Dual-GPU technology to its RD480 Neo2 motherboard.
Based on the ATi RADEON XPRESS 200 Crossfire Dual-GPU architecture, the MSI RD480 Neo2 motherboard offers gamers advanced features that will help boost up their performance.
The CrossFire is ATI's alternative to NVIDIA's SLI Dual-GPU system. ATi's CrossFire solution fundamentally does the same thing as SLI. But SLI requires two absolutely identical graphics card while CrossFire uses the PCI Express bus allowing a bit a more flexibility.
The RD480 Neo2 also adopts the ULi M1573 south bridge which integrates the latest HD Audio supported. Its 7.1 channel audio solution has a full complement of analogue jacks, plus optical and coaxial S/PDIF audio input/output for connecting professional audio equipment. A Plethora of Overclocking Capabilities
MSI promises plenty of overclocking capabilities, besides the D.O.T (Dynamic Overclocking Technology), users can adjust the CPU, memory, PCI Express frequency, and voltage individually, to reach the best performance with desired components. According MSI, the RD480 Neo2 can reach 600MHz FSB without any special setting, which works hand-in-hand with DDR600 memory module.
The RD480 Neo2 also comes with MSI's CoreCell technology, providing intellengent status monitor, user friendly adjustment and online update. User can also expand with one PCI Express x1 port and two 32-Bit PCI slots (v2.2 compliant), including exclusive Communication Slot which is optimized for MSI network cards. It also supports 10 USB 2.0 connectors and three IEEE 1394 ports.
Volume shipments of the RD480 Neo2 are slated for the middle of November.
